The Burma Circle of the Geological Survey of India and their Contributions to the Geology of Myanmar

E Vredenburg was born on 17th April 1870 and died in London on 12th March 1923 at the age of 53 years. He was the most senior member of the Geological Survey of India and educated at the Clermont University of France. After working for a short time as an Assistant Chemist in the Creusot Iron Works in France, he joined the Royal College of Science, London, where he took advanced courses in the various branches of Geology. He and Mr. Grimes were appointed Assistant Superintendents in the Geological Survey of India and joined the office in Calcutta, which at that time was situated in the old Museum building, on the 16th of October 1895. Both young officers were sent to Rewah for their camp season under Mr R D Oldham, where the party was greatly handicapped by a phenomenally unhealthy season.

​​​​​​​THE Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held in Beijing on 27-28 December 2023. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the conference and delivered an important address. Xi Jinping presented a systematic review of the historic achievements and valuable experience of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, gave a profound exposition on the international environment and historical mission of China’s external work on the new journey, and made comprehensive plans for China’s external work for the present and coming periods. I would like to introduce the conference to friends from all walks of life in Myanmar and share some views on promoting the development of China-Myanmar relations.

​​​​​​​THE Myanmar Buddhist society acknowledges three significant calamities: famine, war, and epidemic diseases, all of which profoundly impact living beings, particularly humans, and pose significant obstacles to social and economic progress. Various global catastrophes have adversely affected humanity, causing tragic social and economic development disruptions. Unfortunately, some nations have failed to learn crucial lessons from previous outbreaks, such as SARS, avian influenza, Zika, Ebola, and other highly infectious diseases. For countries grappling with the repercussions of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is imperative to invest more in disease prevention, virus research, and swift response mechanisms.

Congratulation on the 25th Anniversary of Civil Service Academy (Upper Myanmar)

The Civil Service Academy, Upper Myanmar (CSAUM) was founded on 7 February 1999 and is now 25 years old. It is situated in Zeepingyi village, PyinOoLwin Township, Mandalay Region. It is located on Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Road and is about 24 miles far from Mandalay. The area occupied by the CSAUM is 905.10 acres. There is the Yadanabon Cyber City in the East, Central Institute of Fire Bridge in the North and Northwest, the Police Officer Training Institute of Myanmar Police Force, Zeepingyi Village in the West and Paypin Village in the South and Southwest.

Chin State’s Konjac cultivation enhances rural livelihood and income, generates revenue

Chin State is renowned for its stunning and enchanting beauty of hills, covered with evergreen and deciduous forest. Moreover, terrace farming showcases the awe-inspiring beauty of steep hills. The rich soil in those terrace farms allows the residents to execute organic farming of the elephant foot yam (Konjac). The abundant supply of Konjac in Chin State contributes to exports as an industrial crop.
