Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn, Chairman of the Working Committee on Information and Development of a Resilient and Strong Social Community, visited yesterday the disaster-affected villages of Magyeepin and Nyaungpintha in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw, accompanied by committee members and departmental officials, to inspect the progress of activities aimed at building a resilient and strong social community and to address the needs of the local people.

Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met Tatmadaw members and families of Pathein Station at Ayeyawady Hall of the South-West Command Headquarters yesterday morning.

Tatmadaw, in its efforts to ensure the peaceful livelihood of the people, has been conducting counter-terrorism operations in various military command areas. On 17 October, Tatmadaw members successfully regained full control over Hsipaw, which terrorists had temporarily held. In response, ethnic people in Hsipaw have welcomed and supported Tatmadaw’s efforts with appreciation, and some residents who had temporarily fled their homes have begun returning to their original villages.

Under the guidance of the Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission of the Republic of the Union Myanmar and Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, a study tour to the People’s Republic of China, which has been underway since 13 October and includes outstanding young students who excelled in the 2024–2025 matriculation examination, children of current and former Tatmadaw members, and Tatmadaw members who passed with honours, returned to Yangon International Airport yesterday morning, where they were welcomed by Brig-Gen Tun Tun Oo, Deputy Commander of the Yangon Command, senior military officers, U Aung Ye Win, Head of Department of the Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Public Co Ltd, officials, and the students’ parents and relatives.

A delegation led by Union Minister for Energy U Ko Ko Lwin, attending the eighth Russian Energy Week International Forum (REW) in Moscow, the Russian Federation, met on 17 October with the Minister of Energy of the Russian Federation, Mr Sergey Tsivilyov. The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Russian state-owned energy companies INTER RAO Export and JSC RosGeo.

A coordination meeting on the dredging and construction of retaining walls along the Mae Sai Creek to prevent flooding along the Myanmar-Thailand border was held at the Yeiktha meeting hall in Wamkaung Ward, Tachilek, eastern Shan State, on the morning of 17 October. The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Kyaw Tun, Deputy Minister for Construction U Myo Myint, and departmental officials.
