IN Myanmar, the annual challenges associated with water utilization persist due to geographical conditions and the impacts of climate change. Despite boasting a larger number of water sources compared to other ASEAN countries, effective water management remains crucial.

THE voices and concerns of developing countries in the UN, collectively referred to as the “Global South”, prioritize peace, security, and development. These objectives require an integrated framework for international cooperation, with the Global South participating on an equal basis in its decision-making.

IN Ambassador (Retd.) Asoke Mukerji RECENT developments, Myanmar has successfully intercepted billions of kyats worth of narcotic drugs, including Ice and stimulant tablets, in its territorial seas, notably in PyinOoLwin, Mandalay, and Yangon. This concerted effort is aimed at mitigating the pervasive dangers posed by narcotic drugs, not only to the youth but also to their families and society at large.

Indeed, making essential key points for improving Health System Development would require a profound understanding of the current healthcare system, its challenges, and the socioeconomic context. Therefore, we would like to submit some general thoughts that could be considered based on the specific needs and circumstances;

Consequently, the United Nations General Assembly designated January 24 as the International Day of Education, underscoring education’s pivotal role in shaping societies.

THE global accumulation of waste continues to surge at an alarming rate, posing a significant threat to our planet’s health. However, this waste is not merely a problem; it holds potential as a valuable resource for reuse, recycling, and reproduction, playing a crucial role in reducing environmental pollution and bolstering conservation efforts.

E Vredenburg was born on 17th April 1870 and died in London on 12th March 1923 at the age of 53 years. He was the most senior member of the Geological Survey of India and educated at the Clermont University of France. After working for a short time as an Assistant Chemist in the Creusot Iron Works in France, he joined the Royal College of Science, London, where he took advanced courses in the various branches of Geology. He and Mr. Grimes were appointed Assistant Superintendents in the Geological Survey of India and joined the office in Calcutta, which at that time was situated in the old Museum building, on the 16th of October 1895. Both young officers were sent to Rewah for their camp season under Mr R D Oldham, where the party was greatly handicapped by a phenomenally unhealthy season.

The collaborative efforts aim to ensure comprehensive healthcare accessibility, employing diverse models such as free healthcare systems and cost-sharing mechanisms. This strategy aligns with the efficient budget allocation for the health sector, fostering cooperation with the populace to optimize the impact of healthcare initiatives.

ENFORCEMENT measures of traffic rules play a crucial role in preserving the lives of families navigating the roads, striving to prevent casualties in traffic accidents. It is imperative for all road users to comprehensively understand the primary objectives of traffic rules and adhere to them rigorously.

​​​​​​​THE Central Conference on Work Relating to Foreign Affairs was held in Beijing on 27-28 December 2023. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the conference and delivered an important address. Xi Jinping presented a systematic review of the historic achievements and valuable experience of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics in the new era, gave a profound exposition on the international environment and historical mission of China’s external work on the new journey, and made comprehensive plans for China’s external work for the present and coming periods. I would like to introduce the conference to friends from all walks of life in Myanmar and share some views on promoting the development of China-Myanmar relations.
