THE 2024 Tazaungdine Hot-Air Balloon Festival is being held at Awayar Balloon Field in Taunggyi, under the supervision of the Shan State government. Running from 11 to 17 November, the event features a variety of activities, including daytime and nighttime hot-air balloon competitions, lantern processions, traditional Mathoe robe-weaving contests, trade promotion events, and musical performances. As of 17 November, the celebrations continued into their seventh day.

IN response to record-breaking water levels caused by heavy rainfall upstream of the Ayeyawady River on 31 June and 1 July 2024, flood-affected communities in Kachin State have continued to receive relief aid. On the morning of 16 November, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan led a relief distribution ceremony in Naungchein village-tract, Waingmaw Township, for the remaining flood-affected households.

ON the full moon of Tazaungmone, the Bagan Ancient Cultural Zone bustled with pilgrims and tourists, creating a vibrant scene reminiscent of the Thadingyut Festival. Although fewer visitors travelled to Bagan from other parts of Myanmar due to competing attractions like the Taunggyi hot-air balloon festival, Bagan remained lively, welcoming both pilgrims and tourists.
