Graduation ceremonies for the 15th intake of People’s Military Service trainees — citizens committed to safeguarding the nation’s defence and security — were held yesterday at local training depots under respective military commands across the country.
The ceremonies were conducted in accordance with military traditions, where trainees took an oath of allegiance while holding the State Flag. Responsible officials at the respective training schools delivered concluding addresses, and outstanding trainees received awards in recognition of their performance.
Following the ceremonies, chief ministers of regions and states, commanders from military commands, and officials met the graduating trainees, delivered motivational remarks, and cordially encouraged them in their future duties.
According to the 2008 Constitution, Section 385 stipulates that every citizen has the duty to defend the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the State, while Section 386 prescribes that every citizen shall undergo military training and serve in the defence of the State in accordance with the law.
In line with these provisions, the State continues to safeguard the rights of citizens, while citizens, in turn, fulfil their national duties. Patriotic citizens who have voluntarily attended the People’s Military Service training are now ready to dutifully serve in the defence and security of the nation.
