They occupied certain towns and villages, including Htigyaing, Kawlin, Pinlebu, and Marathein village, using schools, village monasteries, and pagodas as bases to carry out acts of terrorism. They also imposed fear among local civilians by arresting and killing people, extorting money, and planting landmines and explosives on public roads and bridges. Therefore, Tatmadaw columns launched counter-terrorism operations to restore regional security and stability.
