Maung San Yu, a Myanmar national working at Maru Tech, a metal materials and components manufacturing factory in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province of Korea, was seriously injured on 24 March when his body was caught in a machine during work. He sustained severe injuries, including skull and facial bone fractures and a dislocated cervical vertebra, and as a result, he suffered brain haemorrhaging and oxygen deprivation, which led to cardiac arrest.

Three foreign nationals – two from the Philippines and one from Bangladesh – who had entered Myanmar illegally via border routes through neighbouring countries, including Thailand, and were involved in illegal online gambling, online fraud, and other criminal activities in the Myawady-Shwe Kokko area of Kayin State, were deported yesterday. The transfer was carried out through the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge II in accordance with legal procedures, on humanitarian grounds and in the spirit of bilateral friendship.
