Late Pro Tem President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Myint Swe, was born to U Kyee Maung and Daw Kyi in Mandalay on 24 June 1951. He attended the 15th Intake of the Defence Services Academy in 1969 and was appointed as a commissioned officer in 1973.

AS the Pro Tem President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, U Myint Swe, who had received intensive medical treatment at the Special Intensive Care Unit of No 2 Defence Services General Hospital (1,000-bed), passed away yesterday morning, his funeral ceremony will be held with State honours.
