VICE President U Henry Van Thio made an inspection tour to southern Chin State on 3 September.

Vice President U Henry Van Thio presided over the 2nd coordination meeting of steering committee on Hanthawaddy International airport construction project yesterday to discuss the infrastructural works for the project.

Vice President U Henry Van Thio, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee, presided over a coordination meeting on tackling possible food shortages caused by severe flood and drought resulting from global climate changes. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

Continuing his visit in Chin State yesterday, Vice President U Henry Van Thio went to the Viewpoint structure in Haka and observed the local development from the viewpoint, accompanied by Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Gyi, deputy ministers and other officials.

VICE President U Henry Van Thio met local elders in Thantlang and Haka and inspected the development undertakings.

VICE President U Henry Van Thio, who was in Chin State, went yesterday morning, to the construction sites of San Kite school building of No (1) B.E.H.S in Tiddim, Cyclone Shelter, 25-bedded hospital and Var Bridge (2) in Tonzang.

VICE President U Henry Van Thio presided over the 5th meeting of National Land Use Council, held at the Ingyin Hall of Forest Department of Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.

Vice President U Henry Van Thio, in his capacity as Chairman of the National Water Resources Committee (NWRC), addressed the committee’s first coordination meeting of the year at Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

He first reminded that these meetings aim to develop all sectors related or affiliated to water resources and to effectively manage them. He said these meetings have proven effective in resolving water-related issues and for coordinating with ministries and organizations involved in water resources.

MYANMAR Special Economic Zone Central Committee held its first meetingfor the yearat the Ministry of Commerce in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday discussing measures to be taken for speeding up the implementation of special economic zones in the country.

The meeting was opened with remarks made by Vice President U Henry Van Thio, who is also chairmanof this committee.

In his remarks, the chairman stressed the important role of the special economic zones for the economic development of the country, urging the cooperation of all ministries concerned in making the SEZs a success.
