The Kachin State Government continues to provide assistance to people temporarily displaced by the regional security situation and currently sheltering in Myitkyina.

At 1 pm yesterday, Kachin State Chief Minister U Khet Htein Nan encouraged displaced families at the Swat Ngai Taw temporary displaced camp and at Thidaaye Monastery in Myitkyina.

The Chief Minister, accompanied by state ministers and departmental officials, visited the Swat Ngai Taw temporary displaced camp in Sitapu Ward. He met 110 households from Shrawkha Village, Hpakant Township, who are taking temporary refuge at the camp.

During the meeting, the camp in-charge explained the families’ needs related to accommodation and daily living. The Chief Minister urged the households not to lose morale and to stay strong, saying the Kachin State Government is providing continuous support for living and food supply. He added that the Union Government provides a monthly allowance of K20,000 per person.

The Chief Minister then provided K5.5 million for the purchase of 500 bamboo poles and K4.8 million for 12 rolls of tarpaulin to help repair and construct temporary shelters, totalling K10.3 million.

Next, he visited Thidaaye Monastery in Sitapu Ward, where five displaced households from Inlay and Talaugyi villages, Waingmaw Township are staying.

He met the families and coordinated with relevant officials to ensure healthcare services, including medical check-ups and medical supplies. He also provided K1.1 million for the purchase of bamboo and tarpaulin sheets to enable shelter repairs before the rainy season.
