The Rakhine State government is working hard to improve the freshwater fish export volume to Bangladesh via the border camp in Maungtaw Township of Rakhine State, according to U Naing Win Thein, deputy director of Maungtaw District Fisheries Department. Arrangements are also being made to expand freshwater fish farming and apply modern techniques.

The United Nations and the World Health Organization have acknowledged individuals aged 60 years and above as older persons, as per Article 25 (1) of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which affirms that everyone has the right to security if they become old and lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control and 1 October was approved as International Day of Older Persons through the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 45/106.

THE 2023 World Heart Day commemoration ceremony took place at Nay Pyi Taw's Wunna Theikdi Gymnasium B yesterday. During the event, Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win addressed the audience, highlighting the global impact of heart and cardiovascular diseases, which claim over 20.5 million lives annually. He emphasized that unhealthy lifestyle choices such as poor diet, lack of physical activity, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol consumption contribute to 85 per cent of these deaths, primarily due to sudden cardiac arrest, cerebral ischemia, cerebral haemorrhages, and strokes.
