TO combat illegal trade, an inspection team led by the Yangon Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force, under the directive of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, conducted inspection on 27 June. The target location was Warehouse No 231/B in Industrial Zone 2 of Hlinethaya (Eastern) township, situated on Myataung Wungyee U Hmo Road. Authorities seized 600 kilogrammes of Ultra Mild Cream Natural Moisturizer, valued at approximately K4 million, due to a lack of proper documentation. Legal action is being taken according to customs procedures.
A combined inspection team under the Bago Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force also conducted an inspection on 27 June. At Nyaungkhashay X-ray machine checkpoint, they discovered a vehicle travelling from Myeik to Yangon transporting five types of illegal products, including 12,000 bottles of Lactasoy soy milk without necessary official documentation and 135 bags of charcoal with a total estimated value of over K40 million. The Hyundai County Bus, valued at K25 million, was also seized. Legal proceedings are underway in accordance with customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined inspection team under the Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force inspected 782 gallons of illegal diesel fuel, valued at over K9 million, being transported in a Nissan Diesel Truck at the Yadanabon Bridge (Mandalay) checkpoint on 28 June. The truck, estimated at K40 million, was also seized. The total estimated value of the confiscated items is nearly K50 million. Legal action is being taken in accordance with petroleum and petroleum products law.
Additionally, on 28 June, under the management of the Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force, an inspection was conducted on the Hlaingbwe-Hpa-an Road. Authorities seized 500 visses of rohu fish from Thailand, 59 fifty-kilogramme bags of various synthetic meat (estimated value of K6.5 million), one Nissan Condor, and one Nissan Caravan (estimated value of K45 million). The total estimated value of the seized items is K51 million. Action is being taken in accordance with customs procedures.
Furthermore, an inspection team under the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Task Force confiscated 65 products, including 430 cartons of ceramic plates, 110 boxes of bowl patches, 122 long nails, and 390 vacuum cleaners, without any official documentation, near the Kaungmhudaw junction on 28 June. The estimated value of these items is K177 million. Action is being taken in accordance with export and import law.
In total, 15 cases of illegal trade were apprehended on 27 and 28 June and the estimated value of the seized goods amounted to K322.9 million, according to the steering committee.
