THE northernmost of a cluster of four mud volcanoes, locally known as Wetin Nagar, near Saichong Kyaywa Village in Kyaukpyu Township, Rakhine State, erupted for 30 minutes at around 11:00 am on 5 October. During the eruption, hot mud was spewed up to a height of approximately 10 feet, covering an area of about 300 feet around the volcano. Fortunately, there was no damage to people, animals, or farmland as a result of the volcanic activity.
