THE government and people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, under the guidance of the Head of State, have donated humanitarian assistance to those affected by Cyclone Ditwah, which struck Sri Lanka on 28 November and caused flooding and landslides.

The humanitarian assistance, consisting of 26 types of medications and medical supplies weighing 6.938 tonnes, along with 50,000 tubes of toothpaste and 5,000 toothbrushes weighing 2.262 tonnes, for a total of 9.2 tonnes, was transported to Sri Lanka from Yangon yesterday by a Tatmadaw aircraft, accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

In addition to these supplies, the National Disaster Management Fund will provide US$100,000, and the Myanmar Rice Federation will contribute 500 tonnes of rice, bringing the total value of the donation to K1,358.44 million.
