THE Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement signed an agreement with the Mainly I Love Kids (MILK)Myanmar at the ministry in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning for cooperation in vocational training programmes as an initial part of Dreams University project in Rakhine State.
The agreement is aimed to help young people to interact with social communities and to train them for valuing diverse cultures, social harmony, leadership skills and coordination capacities through education programmes.

FOURTEEN buildings for government staff and five public rental residential projects in Sagaing Region will be built during the 2019-2020 financial year, according to the Department of Urban and Housing Development.
The staff housing developments will include 196 rooms and will be built in 12 townships in Sagaing Region in the 2019- 2020 FY. Twenty staff housing buildings with 276 rooms were also constructed in 16 townships during the 2018-2019 FY, according to the department.

The 66th conference of Myanmar Medical Association was held at its auditorium in Yangon yesterday, and the new executive body was elected. Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe said MMA is serving the interest of the country’s medical world through its continuous teaching programs and public healthcare undertakings. The subject-wise groups of MMP should enhance cooperation and links among them in developing healthcare sector and medical and related subjects.

UNION Election Commission Chairman U Hla Thein received Executive Director of Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL) Ms Chandanie Watawala and party at UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
During the meeting, they cordially discussed matters related to preparation for holding the 2020 General Election in accord with the five norms — freedom, fairness, transparency, public credibility and consistency with the desire of the public; plans for observing the elections; and collaboration on the implementation of electoral civic education and voter education programmes.

THE main building of The Bible Society of Myanmar on Sule Pagoda Road in Kyauktada Township, Yangon, underwent major renovations and the completion was inaugurated by Vice President U Henry Van Thio yesterday morning.
Firstly, Rev Daw Ni Ni Swe gave prayers and sang a hymn. Next, the Vice President, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Phyo Min Thein, Deputy Ministers U Tin Myint and U Kyi Min, Union Peace Dialogue Joint Committee member Dr Saw Tun Aung Myint and Treasurer Rev Dr Saw Crainner of The Bible Society of Myanmar cut ceremonial ribbons to formally open the building.

THE documentary TV series ‘Marching on the Main Road’ was introduced in a launch ceremony held at Rosewood Hotel, Yangon, at 2 pm yesterday.
Firstly, Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint met with Mr Xu Lin, Minister of the State Council Information Office of China (SCIOC), at the guest hall of Rosewood Hotel and discussed matters related to information of both countries.
Next, the Union Minister and the SCIOC Minister attended the launch ceremony of ‘Marching on the Main Road’.
