A ceremony to water banyan trees dedicated to sacred Bo trees took place on the platform of the Shwedagon Pagoda on the morning of full moon day of Kason, 11 May, according to the Pagoda Board of Trustees.

Mandalay City was filled with religious devotion as crowds gathered to pour scented water on banyan trees and make offerings in honour of the Buddha’s birth, enlightenment, and Parinibbana on the Full Moon Day of Kason (Buddha Day), an auspicious and sacred occasion for Theravada Buddhists.

On the Kason Full Moon Day (Buddha Day), various meritorious deeds were performed at pagodas, stupas, and sacred sites across Nay Pyi Taw Council Area. These activities included doing merit, pouring water at banyan trees, and hosting meal donation ceremonies, where donors provided alms and meals to monks. The charity feast (Satuditha) was arranged for visitors.
