Researchers from the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health have made an important discovery about Aedes aegypti mosquitos, which could one day lead to better methods for reducing mosquito-to-human transmission of dengue, yellow fever, Zika, and other potentially fatal viruses.

Fortunately, I have a chance to take part in State Administration Council (SAC) Member, Dr Hmu Thang’s Chin land tour from 12 to 19 September 2023. The Chin land of Myanmar has a rich cultural heritage and a diverse population. It has also faced many challenges. To ensure peace and promote the development of Chin Land, it is crucial for the people to come together, unite as one, and work to words a common goal.

The pursuit of lasting peace in Myanmar has been a continuous endeavour for successive governments, aiming to quell ethnic armed conflicts that have persisted since the nation’s post-independence era. Unfortunately, Myanmar has yet to achieve enduring and comprehensive peace across the nation. These conflicts, rooted in diverse political doctrines, demand political solutions.

​​​​​​​THE introduction of the Kyat-Rouble payment system marks a significant step towards strengthening the bilateral ties between Myanmar and Russia. This innovative payment system, based on the Myanmar currency Kyat and the Russian currency Rouble, has been launched with the primary aim of facilitating seamless trade between the two nations.

THE number of cases of human trafficking is on the rise in Asian countries and Myanmar is also one of these countries facing the same case.

IN the realm of thriving businesses, the significance of accurate data and statistics cannot be overstated. A CCORDING to one of the objectives of the Social Affairs of the State Administration Council (SAC); “To elevate the Health and Sports sectors inclusive of all the people, improving the longevity and health of the nation”, the Ministry of Health, Myanmar, laid down the two objectives, to enable every citizen to attain full life expectancy and enjoy longevity of life, and to ensure that every citizen is free from diseases. Improving the health and sports sectors to enhance the longevity and well-being of a nation’s population requires a multisectoral approach that encompasses various aspects of healthcare, physical activity, education, and policy. Therefore, the following are some strategies that can contribute to achieving these goals;

IN PURSUIT of a workforce equipped to invigorate the manufacturing sector and elevate the competencies of the younger generation, the government is actively implementing a comprehensive education system. This endeavour places paramount importance on enhancing the capabilities of youth to create knowledgeable and skilled citizens throughout the nation.

This sentiment resonates particularly strongly in Myanmar, where people are grappling with the economic fallout of soaring inflation rates. The resulting surge in commodity prices, especially for essential food items, has affected individuals across different socioeconomic strata.
