UNDER the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law. On 11 May, inspections were carried out by joint task forces under the management of the Kayin State Illegal Eradication Trade Task Force at the Thanlwain Bridge Combined Checkpoint, and 1,650 Ray power banks (approximately K31.2 million) without any official documentary evidence and a Toyota Hiace microbus carrying those items (estimated value of K15 million) heading from Myawady to Yangon were seized. On 12 May, 40 (81) electric rice cookers that were not declared in the import declaration (ID) (estimated value of K2.4 million) were impounded from a vehicle driving from Myawaddy to Yangon at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) combined inspection station. The action was taken under customs procedures.
