Union Minister for Ministry 1 of the President’s Office U Tin Aung San and his wife attended a ceremony marking the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 75th anniversary of Myanmar-China diplomatic relations at the Wyndham Grand Yangon Hotel in Yangon yesterday.
Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ms Ma Jia and officials welcomed the Union minister and his wife and attendees, and they viewed the photos depicting the history of China.
After the ceremonial procedures, the Chinese ambassador made a speech.
The Union minister said the event was not only a tribute to the achievements of the Chinese leaders and their people over the past 76 years, but also a commemorative event that reflected the historical milestones, strong partnership, mutual respect and commitments made to further enhance cooperation in various sectors preserved between the two countries for more than 75 years. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the friendship between the two countries has been able to release the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence- namely mutual respect for territorial integrity and sovereignty, non-aggression, non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, equality and mutual benefit, and peaceful co-existence.
The Union minister expressed gratitude for the timely rescue work, healthcare services, rehabilitation, and relocation after the Mandalay earthquake, as well as constructive support in Myanmar’s peace and national reconciliation processes, a strong stand with Myanmar on the international stage, and further support in the upcoming election.
The history proves that the mutual assistance and sector-wise cooperation between the two countries enhance the mutual trust and support. If efforts are made based on equality, mutual respect, and Swe Myo Pauk Phaw friendship, mutual relations would take a step to a higher level.
The Union minister and the Chinese ambassador cut the ceremonial cake, and the Chinese ambassador hosted dinner for all the attendees.
