ELECTION Tribunal No 5, chaired by Union Election Commission Member U Than Aung Kyaw, with U Myo Maung and U Kyi Thein serving as members, has issued its ruling in Election Petition No 3/2025 concerning the Pyithu Hluttaw constituency of Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region.
The petition was filed on 12 March 2026 by unsuccessful candidate U Thant Zin Win, who contested the constituency and challenged the election of Daw Aye Mya Mya Soe as the duly elected Pyithu Hluttaw representative. The tribunal heard the case under Section 69(a)(i) of the Pyithu Hluttaw Election Law.
Following the hearings, the tribunal ruled on 16 July 2026 that Daw Aye Mya Mya Soe had been duly elected as the Pyithu Hluttaw representative for Thabeikkyin Township. It also ordered the petitioner, U Thant Zin Win, to pay the respondent K200,000 in legal costs.
As the petitioner did not file an appeal within the prescribed period under Rule 124 of the Pyithu Hluttaw Election Rules, arrangements are being made to publish the tribunal’s decision in the official Gazette.
