At the invitation of Mr Wang Xiaohong, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security, a Myanmar delegation led by Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung attended the 8th China-Myanmar Ministerial Meeting on Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation, the Lancang-Mekong Ministerial Meeting on Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation, and the 2025 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum held in Beijing.
On the evening of 14 September, the Myanmar delegation led by the Union minister arrived in Beijing via Guangzhou. On the morning of 15 September, they attended the 8th China-Myanmar Ministerial Meeting on Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation at the Rui An Hotel in Beijing, where they discussed bilateral security and law enforcement cooperation and signed an MoU.
In the evening, the Myanmar delegation attended the Lancang-Mekong Ministerial Meeting on Law Enforcement and Security Cooperation along with representatives from regional countries. Discussions focused on strengthening regional security, stability, and law enforcement cooperation, enhancing mutual trust and understanding among Lancang-Mekong countries, and promoting peace and stability in border areas. That evening, they also attended a dinner hosted by Mr Wang Xiaohong.
Subsequently, the Union minister and his delegation attended the 2nd Public Security Technology Exhibition and the 2025 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, on 17 and 18 September, together with representatives from international organizations. The Union minister highlighted the need for practical cooperation in the fields of security and the rule of law, joint efforts to combat traditional and non-traditional security challenges, information exchange, and peaceful dispute resolution.
The Myanmar delegation arrived in Shanghai on the evening of 18 September and, on 19 September, visited the PutaO District Police Headquarters of the Shanghai Public Security Department to observe police work related to criminal investigation. They returned to Yangon by air on the afternoon of 20 September.
During the visit, the delegation led by the Union minister strengthened China-Myanmar bilateral ties and cooperation between the two ministries, achieved positive outcomes in fostering friendly relations with the Lancang-Mekong countries, and exchanged views with representatives from various regions of the world on security and legal issues.
