SECURITY forces seized narcotic drugs and drugs-related materials worth over K 93 billion from 28 February to 4 March in northern Shan State, according to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Office.

Mr William Schabas, professor of international law at Middlesex University, UK, and professor of international human laws and human rights at Leiden University in the Netherlands, gave a lecture on the experiences at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and on international law at Yangon University yesterday.
Similarly in the afternoon, Dr Christopher Staker, member of the Bar of England and Wales, gave a lecture on legal matters at Yangon University.

Hluttaw representatives continued to debate proposed amendments to the Constitution during the 18th-day meeting of the Second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s 15th regular session yesterday.
U Naing Htoo Aung of Natogyi constituency first took the floor and said that the word ‘disciplined’ in Articles 6-(d) and 7 should be removed as a ‘multi-party democratic system’ already carries the meaning in an even more comprehensive context.

The report writing team of National Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (NCRPD) held its sixth coordination meeting at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
U Aung Hla Tun, Deputy Minister for Information and Chairman of the report writing team, said this sixth meeting is for the team members are obliged to try together to produce a complete report at the end of March. He also urged the attendees to discuss requirements for compiling the report.

Union Minister for Health and Sports Dr Myint Htwe presided over the daily meeting (29/2020) on prevention of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) at his office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
At the meeting, the minister discussed the requirement of extraordinary measures against the deadly COVID-19 while the disease is rapidly spreading in some countries although Myanmar is still exempt from it.

Myanmar citizens can now purchase flight tickets for international and domestic flights on Myanmar National Airlines (MNA)’s website in Myanmar Kyats (MMK) starting from 5 March, 2020.
MNA announced that the service is only available for Myanmar citizens and can be purchased through their website at www.flymna.com and will be available on their mobile application soon.
On their Website, the pricing for a flight can be viewed in MMK upon choosing the ‘Local’ option and in USD when selecting the ‘Foreigner’ option.

The Pyidaungsu Hluttaw is scheduled to decide whether to accept proposed changes to the Constitution or not on 10 March, according to Speaker U T Khun Myat at yesterday’s assembly.
Hluttaw representatives also debated proposed amendments to the 2008 Constitution during the 17th-day meeting of the Second Pyidaungsu Hluttaw’s 15th regular session yesterday.
