UNION Minister for Industry Dr Charlie Than visited a research centre in Insein Township yesterday morning and met with officials to discuss ways to develop Myanmar’s pharmaceutical sector, improve the production capabilities of pharmaceutical factories, and support MSMEs.

He emphasized the importance of ensuring that food products meet established standards to safeguard public health, and instructed officials to enhance the skills and capacity of staff, follow good laboratory practices, and increase research efforts to develop new drugs for the public.

Then, the Union minister inspected the former laboratory and stressed that training courses be conducted for staff to ensure the resumption of service operations as quickly as possible. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing safety measures and minimizing environmental impact within the laboratory, and discussed the need to pursue international accreditation.

Later, he visited the Pharmaceutical Factory (Insein) and inspected the production processes to ensure the timely delivery of medicines ordered by the Ministry of Health.

Moreover, the day before yesterday afternoon, the Union Minister visited the Enamel Ware Factory in Hline Township, and met with officials to discuss increasing the production of market-oriented products, continuously conducting research to improve the quality of products, promoting the development of private industries, producing goods needed by the public, and increasing import substitution. It is reported that he viewed round the production process of various types of shoes made of rubber.
