The Myanmar government is cooperating with neighbouring countries, regional partners and international organizations to eliminate online gambling fraud and prevent such activities from being established in Myanmar.

In this regard, Tatmadaw columns conducted security operations in Myawady Township, Kayin State, and clashed with KNLA and PDF groups accused of protecting online gambling fraud operators in exchange for payment.

On 27 July, authorities announced the arrest of 777 people involved in online gambling fraud, including 620 Chinese men, 11 Chinese women, three Thai women, 32 Myanmar men and 111 Myanmar women. They also seized one Starlink receiver, 85 computers and 183 mobile phones used in the scams.

The detainees have been taken to Myawady for investigation in accordance with legal procedures. Upon completion of the investigations, legal action will be taken, and the seized equipment will be dealt with according to regulations.

On 17 and 18 July, some ethnic armed groups transported about 210 foreign nationals involved in online gambling scams from Kyaukkhat Village to the Myanmar-Thailand border after receiving payments, before they fled to Thailand.

The authorities are cooperating with neighbouring and regional countries and international organizations to identify and arrest those involved in online gambling scams, including foreign nationals behind such operations, and take strict action against them. The government is also working to repatriate foreigners who are victims of trafficking or facing difficulties in Myanmar.
