he Ministry of Health and Sports convened a meeting with officials from US CDC Centers for Disease Control and Prevention regarding the surveillance and containment of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) yesterday.

Permanent Secretary Dr Thar Tun Kyaw and MoHS officials met with the US CDC Program Director for its Thailand office Dr Joshua Mott (Asia Regional Influenza Program) and Country Director Dr Mitesh Desai from its Myanmar office and their teams.

The Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra of Myanma Radio and Television under the Ministry of Information, together with Japanese artistes, featured their performances at the Novotel Hotel in Yangon yesterday evening.

The event, dubbed ‘Myanmar National Symphony Orchestra Concerts 2020’, was attended by Yangon Region Hluttaw Deputy Speaker U Lin Naing Myint, Yangon Region Government’s Rakhine Ethnic Affairs Minister U Zaw Aye Maung, Japanese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Ichiro Maruyama, heads of foreign missions in Myanmar, the invited guests and music lovers.

The Legal Translation Commission held their sixth meeting at the office of the Union Attorney-General on 19 February.

Commission Chairman and Union Attorney-General, U Tun Tun Oo, said the fifth meeting discussed the translation of four laws which will be included in volume 7 of translated laws.

He said they have published 20 laws up to volume 6 and this three-day meeting will discuss translation of the Penal Code, the Negotiable Instruments Act, and the Public Property Protection Act.

THE Pyithu Hluttaw’s 15th regular session held its 9th day meeting yesterday, with questions to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, the Ministry of Education, and the Ministry of Health and Sports and the Ministry of Construction.
The MPs also discussed preparing the ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) in implementing the ASEAN Economic Community.
The Hluttaw also approved recommendations of Bill Committee for bylaws of Pyithu Hluttaw Election, Amyotha Hluttaw Election and State/Region Hluttaw Election.
