LOCAL authorities and volunteers are working together to prevent Coronavirus infection by disinfecting surfaces in the markets, bridges and public areas.

The community-based support group on prevention of COVID-19 in Dawei, Taninthayi Region, sprayed chlorine disinfectants in the local Kannar Market yesterday. The support group also collaborated with civil society organizations, ward administrators, local elders and philanthropic volunteers in spraying and washing afterwards.

DEPUTY Minister for Information U Aung Hla Tun delivered a speech at the opening ceremony of capacity-building training course (3/2020) conducted by the Information and Public Relations Department at its office in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday morning.
In his opening remark, the Deputy Minister explained the three-week training course on news writing, mobile journalism, financial rules and accounting, official letter writing, media and information literacy, media laws and library knowledge.

Two men were killed and three injured by an explosive triggered by ARSA in Maungtaw Township, Rakhine State, yesterday morning.
At 8:55 am on 30 March 2020, a man identified as U San Aung Phyu, 50, and 11 Dainet residents from Mingalar Nyunt Village were on their motorbikes to go check on some bird traps. They parked their bikes near Kamaungseik Village and Aungzu Village and went into the woods on foot.

Ms Li Xiaoyan, the Minister Counsellor from the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar, explained the coordination between China and Myanmar in prevention, containment and treatment of Covid-19.

* Ten patients infected with COVID-19 disease have been confirmed in Myanmar as of 29 March 2020. Among them, a 44 year old man re-entered Myanmar on 23 March 2020, from Thailand through the Myawady Border Gate, and stayed in Mingaladon Township. Laboratory tests confirmed that he was infected with the COVID-19 disease.
* In such a situation, people who returned in groups from Thailand and people living in the country are at high risk of infection and a possible epidemic is highly imminent.

The National-Level Central Committee for COVID-19 Prevention, Control and Treatment have received cash and hospital equipment donated by business companies and individuals yesterday.
Union Minister Dr Myint Htwe, the Secretary (2) of the central committee, attended the donation ceremony held at his office in Nay Pyi Taw.
