Myanmar delegation led by Deputy Minister for Science and Technology Dr Aung Zeya attended the 2025 ASEAN-Oriented Standardization Cooperation Forum, with the theme “Innovative Collaboration in AI Standardization, Empowering the Building of China-ASEAN Community with a Shared Future”, in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China on 27 August.
Mr Wei Tao, Governor of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and Deputy Ministers from China and Deputy Ministers from ASEAN countries made speeches at the opening ceremony.
In his opening remark, Deputy Minister Dr Aung Zeya highlighted that China is a leading country in AI technology and digital economic system, and the AI standardization for ASEAN countries can fulfil the technology needs of developing the ASEAN digital economy. Moreover, it can bring common benefits through the China-ASEAN Digital Economy Partnership and the ASEAN Smart Cities Network. He stressed the creation of a strong foundation for sustainable growth, economic resilience, and technological progress across the region.
During the signing ceremony, the delegates from Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam signed MoUs, and the officials declared the launching of AI cooperation by forming a committee, the success of ISO/CASCO, the second exchange of China-ASEAN EV standards and EV cooperation, and AI and EV-related projects between China-Cambodia, China-Laos and China-ASEAN.
At noon, the deputy minister visited the China-ASEAN Information Harbour (CAIH) in Nanning, and observed the digital Silk Road, the enhancement of digital economic cooperation with ASEAN and AI-based services.
The deputy minister attended the EV standardizing subforum and discussed EV standards, while AI-based precision measurement technology and the inspection of compliance with food product quality standards were discussed at two other subforums.
