Myanmar virtually hosted the 12th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD) and the 8th ASEAN+3 Ministerial Meeting on Social Welfare and Development (AMMSWD+3) in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.
Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement D Soe Win presided over the meetings under the theme “Enhancing Responsive Social Protection for Vulnerable Groups in the ASEAN Community”.
Ministers from ASEAN+3 and ASEAN exchanged views on the enhancement of responsive social protection and ongoing work plans.
The Union minister highlighted the social protection measures under the National Social Protection Strategic Plan, rehabilitation activities after the Mandalay earthquake, the role of social welfare staff and regional cooperation.
Representatives from ASEAN+3 countries – China, Japan and Korea — discussed collaborative efforts to improve social welfare and further progress.
After the processes, the Union minister concluded the meeting.
