Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, combined inspection teams carried out enforcement actions on 11 and 12 July to crack down on illegal trade in various regions.
On 11 July, inspections led by the Customs Department at Asia World Port resulted in the seizure of industrial goods worth an estimated K2.57 billion inside 81 containers, due to lack of proper documentation. At Yangon International Airport’s warehouse, officials also seized consumer goods worth around K11 million for similar reasons. The total estimated value of the seizures was K2.58 billion, and legal action is taken in accordance with customs procedures.
In Sagaing Region, a combined team inspected the Yadanabon Bridge checkpoint and confiscated undocumented foodstuffs imported from China worth about K2.34 million. Action is taken under the Export and Import Law.
In Bago Region, illegal timber was seized in Toungoo District — 3.180 tonnes of teak and 1.189 tonnes of ironwood — worth approximately K3.6 million. Officials are taking action under the Forest Law.
On 12 July, combined teams in Mandalay Region inspected vehicles crossing from Sagaing and Shwebo to Mandalay. They confiscated undocumented food and consumer goods from four trucks — Toyota Toyoace, Mitsubishi Canter, Foton Light Truck, and KO Light Truck — worth about K146.8 million in total. Enforcement measures are being taken under customs regulations.
In Myawady, Kayin State, inspections at 4th Bogale Street in Ward 6 led to the seizure of undeclared industrial items worth around K41.6 million. Action is taken in line with customs procedures.
On the same day, Myanmar Police Force arrested 12 unregistered cars and 32 unregistered motorcycles. Authorities are handling these cases in accordance with relevant laws and procedures.
On 11 and 12 July, a total of 19 cases were recorded, involving seizures valued at an estimated K2.78 billion.
