The Ministry of Information must play a key role in ensuring that the public understands the guidelines, and activities of the Union Government and gains knowledge, said Union Minister for Information U Htein Lin during a separate meeting held yesterday morning in Tatkon Township, Nay Pyi Taw, where he gave instructions on work-related matters to the staff of Myanma Radio and Television (MRTV) and the News and Periodicals Enterprise.

He also said that, as the country is based primarily on agriculture and livestock breeding, priority should be given to disseminating information that will benefit rural communities. In addition, the media sector needs to support the development of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) under the One Region, One Product policy and create attractive programmes to promote inbound tourism.

He explained that all employees need to combine their skills and artistic talents to effectively communicate the country’s policies to the public, including educational and health awareness content in programmes, and adhere to press policies.

After the meeting, the Union minister toured the MRTV facility and inspected the installation of satellite receivers and the water-cooled air-conditioning system, as well as facilities for employees’ physical fitness and recreation.

He proceeded to view the broadcasting operations of Meyu FM Radio at Nay Pyi Taw Broadcasting Station 1 and Thapyay Radio at Station 2, inspected the radio broadcasting equipment, and presented awards to employees.

He then toured the children’s reading room at the Tatkon Township Information and Public Relations Department office and the public library, where they observed students reading and inspected the orderly arrangement of books. He also presented awards to staff members and observed Book Club members conducting reading discussions. The authors presented copies of their published books to the Union minister.
