The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation held the first policy meeting with the Ministry of Planning, Finance and Industry and the European Union and on Nutrition Sector Reform Contract online yesterday. The meeting aimed to coordinate for the implementation of the NSRC with the support of the EU and the COVID-19 Economic Relief Plan (CERP) in 2020-2021 financial year. Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Hla Kyaw, Deputy Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry U Maung Maung Win, officials and Directors-General from the respective departments and EU head of Cooperation at the office of EU Delegation Dr Johann Hesse participated in the meeting.

Myanmar Consumer Protection Commission held its (1/2020) coordination meeting via zoom application at the Ministry of Commerce yesterday morning. During the meeting, Chairman of the MCPC and Union Minister for Commerce Dr Than Myint said the ministry is carrying out many sectors like trade promotion, trade facilitation, trade negotiation, trade liberalization, trade education, consumer protections in addition to the development of SMEs, job opportunities, special economic zones and private sectors. The Consumer Protection Law was enacted on 15 March 2019 and MCPC was formed with 21 members to protect the interest of consumers. Then, the commission’s 1/2019 meeting was held on 15 November 2019 and stipulated nine resolutions at the meeting.

Vice President U Henry Van Thio, alongside Chin State Chief Minister U Salai Lian Luai, Chin State Hluttaw Speaker U Zo Bawi, Chin State Ministers and relevant officials, inspected the first trial landing of an aircraft (ATR 72-600 owned by Myanmar National Airlines) at the new Surbung Airport in Falam Township, Chin State, yesterday morning. After greeting with captains Zaw Min Oo and Min Thu Zaw, the Vice President held a meeting with officials in the guest hall of the airport and praised the historic day of Chin State for the first trial flight at its new airport. The Vice President also expressed thanks to all stakeholders, including local engineers and experts, involved in the airport construction project, saying that it was challenging to build the airport because it is situated highest above sea level.
