The earthquake that struck on 28 March 2025, with its epicentre in Mandalay, caused fatalities and extensive damage across six regions and states: Sagaing Region, Mandalay Region, Magway Region, Shan State, and Bago Region. In response to the needs of affected communities, humanitarian aid, medical supplies, and donations from local and international donors were distributed between 30 March and 20 April.

A combined team comprising members of the Drug Enforcement Division of Myanmar Police Force searched a Harrier driven by Thet Naing (aka) Ko Hnget, accompanied by Kyaw Khaing Linn (aka) Moe Di, near Thingangyungyi Village in Thingangyungyi Village-tract, Mingaladon Township, at 1 pm on 23 April. The police seized 350,000 stimulant tablets worth K350 million. A 6-wheel Canter Isuzu, that carrying those tablets from Yadashe Township, was seized in Chitteegon Ward in Mingaladon Township on 24 April. Acting on a tip-of, at 6:30 pm on 24 April, the police further arrested Nay Lin Tun who forced the above-two to carry the tablets at 158th-mile checkpoint on Yangon-Mandalay Expressway.
