Doctors, medical teams, and humanitarian aid supplies and medicines from Japan’s JICA have arrived in Myanmar, according to reports.

The emergency relief supplies delivered by the JICA team include medicines, consumer goods, rainproof tents, and hospital equipment, with a total weight of 11,229 kilogrammes.

Upon their arrival at Yangon International Airport, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, and the Yangon Command worked together to receive the donations and coordinate efforts to swiftly transport them to the earthquake-affected areas.

The Government of Myanmar continues to promptly assess the damage and losses in the earthquake-hit regions and is carrying out rescue and relief operations without delay. It has also opened channels for international humanitarian aid. The arrival of the JICA plane, carrying doctors, nurses, and humanitarian supplies and medicines, is part of the support being provided to those affected by the disaster.

As of 6 April, a total of 88 aircraft and six ships from 20 countries have arrived in Myanmar, bringing with 1,728 international rescue personnel, 1,197 tonnes of aid supplies, and 844 tonnes of rescue equipment.
