The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) held its 2/2025 meeting, chaired by the National Disaster Management Committee’s Vice-Chairs. The meeting covered the aftermath of the 28 March earthquake, which led to 78 aftershocks. A total of 653 people were reportedly rescued, with 640 bodies recovered. Search and rescue operations continue under a Level 5 status.

Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung who is also Vice-Chair of the National Disaster Management Committee emphasized the urgency of quickly relocating affected individuals to temporary shelters before the rain and outlined plans for evaluating building damages in three levels. Temporary shelters like Assembled Board Houses (ABH) will be used. He stressed the need for immediate inspections of government offices, hospitals, and staff housing and efficient distribution of international aid.

Following the meeting, officials visited temporary shelters and conducted checks on water, fire safety and other essential services at five sports grounds in Nay Pyi Taw.
