UPON receiving information regarding the emergence of a low-pressure zone in the Bay of Bengal, as per the information obtained from the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the National Disaster Management Committee promptly convened an emergency coordination meeting in line with the directives stipulated by the State Administration Council. Consequently, on 8 May, the Disaster Management Committee (DMC) was established.

ACCORDING to the observations at 3:30 pm MST on 12 May of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology, the very severe cyclonic storm “Mocha” over the central Bay of Bengal and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has moved north-northeastwards and now lies over the central Bay of Bengal. It is centred at about 295 nautical miles west of Cocokyun, 370 nautical miles west-southwest of Hainggyikyun, 450 nautical miles south-southwest of Sittway, 300 nautical miles northwest of Port Blair (India) and 490 nautical miles south-southwest of Cox’s Bazar (Bangladesh).

THE Myanmar delegation led by Union Civil Service Board Permanent Secretary U Aung Tin Soe attended the preparatory meeting of the 22nd ASEAN Cooperation on Civil Service Matters (ACCSM) and Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) held in Brunei Darussalam on 9 and 10 May.
