THE malicious media is deliberately circulating false claims that the Tatmadaw local battalion located in Mindat, Chin State, launched a heavy weapon on 9 August, which killed a local woman and wounded a child. Likewise, security forces from the Monywa checkpoint, Sagaing Region, fired with heavy weapons, which landed and exploded in villages located beside Monywa-Amyint Road, killing two and injuring seven.

REPORTS said that malicious media circulated fake news claiming that on 24 and 25 July, security forces checked locals’ mobile phones in Pyapon Township of Ayeyawady Region and arrested three people who were found with VPN applications in their phones. It also claimed that security forces let those three people after extorting K500,000 from each on 10 August.
