YANGON’S South District Court sentenced two people to 10 years imprisonment for their role in trafficking a man to a fishing bamboo raft (Kyaphaung) work site on 5 May.

The victim Mg …, aged 25, from Maubin Township of Ayeyawady Region was sent to Thinzar Tun fishing bamboo raft work site in Khapyat village of Pyapon Township by Win Lin Tun (aka) Kaung Gyi from Dala and Aung Bala (aka) Balagyi from Pyapon Township. The two suspects exploited the salary of the victim – K700,000 after he worked there for two months. The traffickers were prosecuted at Dala Myoma police station under Section 25/32 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law. The South District Court sentenced them to a 10-year jail with labour under Section 25 of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Law on Thursday.
