Myanmar officials warmly welcomed a total of 200 returnees — 120 men and 80 women — repatriated from Thailand via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No.2 in Myawady, Kayin State, yesterday morning.
The repatriation process began on 1 August 2021.
U Aung Chan Nyein, Deputy District Administrator of Myawady District and officials welcomed the returnees.
Next, healthcare professionals and departmental officials carried out the COVID-19 tests, provided documents required for quarantine, and explained the instructions of the Ministry of Health.
Previously, only returnees from Myawady and Kawkareik districts were tested for the COVID-19 virus.
All returnees will now be screened and those infected will be treated at COVID-19 Centre in Myawady and Shwe Myawady COVID-19 Centre.
The 200 Myanmar returnees from different regions and states will be transported to their respective places by private vehicles, officials said.
