The National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee (NSPNC) and the United Wa State Party (UWSP) concluded their second day of peace talks in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday, with both sides signing a record of agreed outcomes and reaffirming their commitment to advancing the peace process through political dialogue.

The meeting was held at the Horizon Lake View Hotel and attended by senior officials from both delegations, including NSPNC Chairman Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and UWSP Vice-Chairman U Xiao Guoan.

According to the meeting, discussions focused on issues carried over from the first day, including national unity, regional stability and development, healthcare, agriculture, livestock, transport infrastructure and practical cooperation aimed at supporting the peace process. Both sides also reviewed the outcomes of their two-day discussions and signed a written record of the agreements reached.

The UWSP vice-chairman said the talks had been conducted in an open and constructive atmosphere, producing positive results. He reiterated the party’s support for resolving differences through political means, building consensus peacefully and maintaining the peace process. He also called for greater mutual respect, tolerance and cooperation among Myanmar’s ethnic communities to promote long-term peace, stability and development.

Closing the meeting, the NSPNC Chairman described the discussions as productive and said the UWSP’s location along the Myanmar-China border made it an important partner for bilateral relations. He expressed hope that the UWSP would continue participating in the peace process through regular engagement with the NSPNC.

The meeting concluded with both sides exchanging commemorative gifts.
