A group art exhibition titled “China-Myanmar Friendship Art Exhibition” is being held from 31 May to 4 June, said U Maw Li Shwe, the chairman of the Myanmar-China Calligraphy and Painting Association, who is one of the organizers of the exhibition.

Chinese and Myanmar artists display their oil and watercolour paintings and modern artworks at the exhibition held at Artistic Space Art Gallery in Botahtaung Township of Yangon Region. Moreover, the exhibition showcases Chinese calligraphy artworks and sculptures made of sandalwood and Indian Sandalwood.

Reportedly, more than 30 artistic works in different perspectives created by eight Chinese and Myanmar artists are also put on display at the exhibition.

U Maw Li Shwe said, “Coming 8 June marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar. To commemorate this 75th anniversary, this event is being held with the intention of promoting collaboration and exchange in the field of painting between the two countries. The exhibition features artworks by eight Myanmar-Chinese painters, as well as more than 20 Chinese calligraphy artworks and sculptures. These calligraphy pieces are composed of inspirational texts, and each painting carries its own meaning”.

The artistic exhibition held for the first time aims to mark the 75th Anniversary of the Founding of the diplomatic relations between Myanmar and China as well as to cooperate and exchange artistic experiences of Myanmar and Chinese artists.

Myanmar artists Maw Li Shwe, Iris Win, Win Mg Shwe, Moe Thura, Thike Oo, Kyi Oo, Trangle Tun Naing and Forward Ye Myint display their artistic works.

The paintings in sizes of 24 by 24 inches, 36 by 24 inches, 18 by 24 inches and 18 by 18 inches are valued ranging from K500,000 to K1 million. The proceeds from sales of paintings will be donated to the fund for the Chinese Handwriting Contest.
