Kayin State Chief Minister U Saw Myint Oo, along with state cabinet members and departmental officials, inspected livestock breeding zones within the state on 5 October.

The chief minister and his team met committee members of the Mizan Livestock Rearing Zone and the Hpa-an (Sanfari) Livestock Rearing Zone in Hpa-an Township. Hpa-an District Administrator U Aung Lwin and departmental officials elaborated on the farming systems within the zones, including the production of meat, eggs, and milk, the completion of construction for a ring road and streets within the zones, and other projects. The chief minister urged adherence to good manufacturing practices to produce high-quality products.

Farmers also discussed their requirements and the difficulties they encounter in the farming processes. The chief minister and departmental officials collaborated to find solutions for them. Afterwards, the chief minister and officials observed the farming of 420 pigs by U Zaw Htwe Aung, 150 goats by U Naing Min Htike, and a family-owned natural fertilizer factory that produces fertilizer from livestock and agricultural waste. They also inspected the rearing of 300 sheep and goats by Shwe Seikmin Livestock and 20 cows by Daw Nang Myint Myint Aye, located in the Hpa-an (Sanfari) Livestock Rearing Zone.

The Mizan Livestock Rearing Zone in Hpa-an Township was established on 10 February 2024. There are a total of 1,888 pigs and 940 goats being reared in the zone. From April to September 2024, a total of 55,475 visses of pork and over 1,931 visses of mutton were produced from the zone. The Hpa-an (Sanfari) Livestock Rearing Zone was opened on 29 July 2022, and currently has 271 cows, 1,969 goats, 6,200 layers, 2,570 local chickens, and 110 sheep. In 2024, a total of 270 visses of beef, 1,558 visses of mutton, 11,427 visses of chicken, 731 visses of lamb, 2,534,210 eggs, and 3,285 visses of milk were produced.
