Under the supervision of the Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee, efforts to combat the illicit trade continue effectively in accordance with the law.
On 2 October, combined teams managed by the Customs Department conducted inspections. They seized nine kinds of industrial materials and a kind of consumer goods worth about K1.155 billion without official documents from 30 containers at the Myanmar Industrial Port, seven kinds of industrial materials and three consumer goods valued at about K1.313 billion without official documents from 35 containers at the Asia World Port Terminal container checkpoint, six kinds of industrial materials and a kind of consumer goods worth K798.6 million without official documents from 15 containers at the Thilawa Port Terminal, a Nissan Diesel truck (approximately worth K55 million) carrying two kinds of consumer goods and a kind of industrial materials worth K30.48 million that were different from the Import Declaration (ID) at the Ywathagyi Dry Port, a kind of foodstuffs and a kind of consumer goods valued at K7.2 million without official documents from an Asia Star Express bus (approximately K70 million), at the Mayanchaung permanent checkpoint. The action was taken under Customs procedures.
Similarly, a combined on-duty team conducted inspections and seized three unregistered motorbikes (worth approximately K4.5 million) in Magway District, two unregistered vehicles (estimated value of K13 million) in Dagon Myothit (Seikkan) and South Okkalapa Townships, and a kind of industrial materials valued at K3.15 million that were piled up in the highway bus terminal in Kawthoung Township. The action was carried out according to the Export and Import Law and Customs procedures.
Also on 3 October, combined teams managed by the Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Task Force conducted inspections. It seized an unregistered Dathatisu Hijet (worth approximately K8 million) in Kalewa Township. The action was taken under the Export and Import Law.
The Illegal Trade Eradication Steering Committee reported that 46 arrests were made on 2 and 3 October, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth approximately K3.459 billion.
