Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Lt-Gen Prasan Saengsirirak of the Royal Thai Armed Forces emphasized the need to enhance cooperation between Myanmar and Thailand on various issues, including combatting terrorism and illegal trade.
Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Commander-in-Chief (Army) Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a Thai delegation led by Lt-Gen Prasan Saengsirirak, which attended the 36th meeting of Thai-Myanmar Border Committee hosted by Myanmar, at the parlour of Zeyathiri Beikman in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday afternoon.
At the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the promotion of existing friendly ties and cooperation between the two armed forces, as well as cooperation in ensuring peace and stability in border regions, enforcing the rule of law, eradicating narcotic drugs, and combatting terrorism and illicit trade.
Also present at the meeting were Lt-Gen Nyunt Win Swe from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), senior Tatmadaw officers, Myanmar Ambassador to Thailand U Chit Swe, Thai Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Mongkol Visitstump, and senior military officers from the Royal Thai Armed Forces.
After the meeting, both sides exchanged gifts and had a commemorative photo taken.
