BRAZIL has expressed its support for Myanmar's establishment of a diplomatic school. Moreover, discussions are underway regarding potential diplomatic exchange visits between the two nations, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On 14 March, Myanmar Ambassador to Brazil U Aung Kyaw Zan and acting head of the Rio Branco Institute under the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ms Mariana Moscardo convened the meeting at the institute to deliberate on bilateral diplomatic collaboration.
They explored avenues for cooperation between the Department of Strategic Studies and Training under the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Rio Branco Institute, particularly in the realm of diplomatic exchange visits. Brazil affirmed its backing for curriculum development, management, administration, teaching, and research for the proposed diplomatic school in Myanmar.
Established in 1945, the Rio Branco Institute boasts a rich history of training Brazilian diplomats who go on to serve in Brazil's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, it plays a pivotal role in nurturing young diplomatic officials in the fields of international relations and foreign diplomacy.
Over the years, the institute has produced numerous Brazilian diplomats and has also welcomed foreign diplomats, cementing its status as a cornerstone of diplomatic education and training.
