THE Government of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar has agreed to the proposed appointment of Mr Gustavo Rocha de Menezes as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federative Republic of Brazil to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

Mr Gustavo Rocha de Menezes was born on 4 March 1967 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He holds a degree in Economics from Pontifical Catholic University and a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Institute of International Relations. He joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil as Third Secretary in 1995. From 2000 to 2019, he served in various capacities at the Brazilian Embassies in London, Santiago, Beijing, Rome and the Consulate-General of Brazil in Barcelona. From 2019 to 2020, he served as Minister Counsellor at the Mission of Brazil to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries. From 2020 to 2022, he served as Deputy Chief in the cabinet of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and as Chief of Staff at the Office of the Minister of Health.
