THE final list of 40 selected trainees out of 264 applicants for the Myanmar Film Acting Promotion Course was announced on 16 June.

“I am involved as a female committee member of this Film Development Centre. Our centre is also a project under the 100-day plan being implemented by the Ministry of Information. Since we wanted to scout for talent, we first announced it online. A lot of people applied. For our part, we wanted to prioritize fresh talent. This is because, rather than conventional, rigid acting styles, we want to see a ‘next wave’. Therefore, when making the selection, we focused heavily on features and experiences that were distinct and different,” said Academy Swe Zin Htaik, who is one of the instructors for the Myanmar Film Acting Promotion Course.

The selection of trainees for the course was carried out by experienced directors and actresses.
