The Information and Public Relations Department under the Ministry of Information held its 29th anniversary at its headquarters in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.


It was attended by Union Minister Dr Pe Myint, Permanent Secretary U Myo Myint Maung, departmental heads, officers and staff members.


The Union Minister extended his appreciation to officers and staff members of IPRD at all levels of States, Regions, districts and townships, who contributed to development and improvement of the department.

THE documentary TV series ‘Marching on the Main Road’ was introduced in a launch ceremony held at Rosewood Hotel, Yangon, at 2 pm yesterday.

Firstly, Union Minister for Information Dr Pe Myint met with Mr Xu Lin, Minister of the State Council Information Office of China (SCIOC), at the guest hall of Rosewood Hotel and discussed matters related to information of both countries.

Next, the Union Minister and the SCIOC Minister attended the launch ceremony of ‘Marching on the Main Road’.

AS the 70th anniversary of relations between China and Myanmar approaches, the Think Tank Scholars Summit on Myanmar – China Relations in the New Era was held at Lotte Hotel, Yangon, yesterday morning.

The event was organized by the Myanmar Affairs Study Group, an extension of the Research and Information Division (Yangon) under the Ministry of Information, and the Institute of Myanmar Studies (IMS) of Yunnan University.

THE Japanese Film Festival, jointly organized by the Japanese Embassy and Japan Foundation, returns to Yangon’s Nay Pyi Taw cinema for 2019-2020 starting from yesterday to 19 January.

Japanese Ambassador Mr Maruyama Ichiro, his embassy officials and Film Promotion Division Director U Thein Naing attended the inauguration of the film festival at the cinema at 6 pm yesterday where they watched the Japanese film ‘Masquerade Hotel’.

The annual report writing team of the National Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities held its fourth coordination meeting yesterday at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw. Speaking at the meeting, U Aung Hla Tun, the Deputy Minister for Information, in his capacity as the chairman of the annual report writing committee, said the team, in previous meetings, deliberated on the size of the book and the deadline for the release of the report.

The union minister said Myanmar, especially the Ministry of Information, was honoured to host the 19th SCI meeting. He warmly welcomed the ASEAN delegates and said it will further accelerate cooperation and promotion of ASEAN awareness in building the ASEAN identity and a sense of community.
