THE Tatmadaw and donors have donated oxygen cylinders to public hospitals, Tatmadaw hospitals, medical departments and COVID-19 centres in various regions/states to help meet the oxygen needs in the treatment of the patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and those who need special care.
Yesterday, Tatmadaw officials from the Nay Pyi Taw Military Regional Military Headquarters donated 50 oxygen cylinders to the General Hospital (1,000-bedded) and 40 oxygen cylinders to the Public Hospital (300-bedded) in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory. In addition, a total of 55 oxygen cylinders were donated to public hospitals in Lashio, Kyaukme, Mongyai, Namlan and Hsipaw townships in northern Shan State; 86 oxygen cylinders to hospitals in Pathien and Labutta townships in Ayeyawady Region; 5 oxygen cylinders to the public hospital in Minbya Township, 60 oxygen cylinders to Taungup Public Hospital, 40 oxygen cylinders to Thandwe Township Hospital and 10 oxygen cylinders to Gwa Public Hospital in Rakhine State; 40 oxygen cylinders to Letpadan Township Hospital in Bago Region.
The Ministry of Health and Sports is stepping up the installation of oxygen plants in respective regions and states as well as Tatmadaw is coordinating the production of oxygen from oxygen plants in various areas of the regional military headquarters. The Oxygen Plant of the Naval Dockyard Headquarters in Thanlyin Battalion donated 50 40-litre oxygen cylinders to civil society organizations in Yangon Region yesterday. The Oxygen Plant has donated 585 40-litre oxygen cylinders and 67 15-litre oxygen cylinders in Thanlyin, Dala, Twantay, Kayan, Thongwa and Kyauktan townships in Yangon Region as of yesterday since 9 July.
It is reported that oxygen cylinders imported by the private companies and 57 tonnes of liquid oxygen purchased with the fund of donors and the Ministry of Health and Sports have arrived and will be distributed to the respective regions and states.
