A  group  of  20  terrorists  led  by  Myint  Swe,  a  resident  in  Kanaw  village,  destroyed  the  monastery  building  and  a vehicle in the Payathonezu  Ceti monastery yesterday in Amarapura  Township,  Mandalay Region.

The  incident  reportedly  happened because Sayadaw U  Gotika,  the  abbot  of  the  Monastery,  was  dissatisfied  by them with the request to the security forces paving the road  in  Kanaw  village  to  to  the monastery on 25 April.

The Sayadaw had to flee from  the  monastery  while  the  building  was  being  destroyed.  Due  to  the  attack,  the 12-foot-long wooden door, the  entrance  to  the  monastery, four glass windows and six  wooden  windows  and  the roof were damaged, and the  window  of  the  car  was  smashed.

It is reported that investigations are underway to take effective legal action against the perpetrators.
