FACULTY members of universities, degree colleges and colleges under the Department of Higher Education were allowed to enjoy the long vacation till 2 May 2021. All faculty members from the academic sector were urged to join the workplaces with might and main, not later than 3 May 2021, said Union Minister for Education Dr Nyunt Pe yesterday at a coordination meeting. At the coordination meeting to reopen final year courses, master’s courses (written) and preliminary doctoral courses under the restrictions of Covid-19 prevention held at the Ministry of Education, Dr Nyunt Pe instructed officials concerned to systematically send reports on absentees to workplaces on 3 May and urged educational staff to pave the way for new generation students for enhancement of their education quality. He noted that not losing learning opportunity for students is very important for those students and the State. The Ministry of Education will reopen final year courses, master’s courses (written) and preliminary doctoral courses of universities, degree colleges and colleges in the higher education sector under the Covid-19 prevention restrictions on 5 May with the aim of not delaying learning opportunities of students in the outbreak of Covid-19, enabling the students to finish final year courses of 2019-20 academic year and turning out graduates for workplaces, the Union Minister added. The deputy minister, the permanent secretary and the director-general of the Higher Education Department reported on the number of the courses to be opened on 5 May and the number of students, facts about the training courses, academic and management matters, arrangements for student hostels, and more plans to open first to third years’ courses ad distance education courses.
